Delegation

Delegating tasks effectively

It's assigning tasks and responsibilities to other team members, giving them the authority and resources needed to complete them. It's not just 'passing work', it's developing your team.

How to do delegation without micromanagement?

Say: 'I delegate this to you because I trust your judgment. The expected result is X. What do you need from me to achieve it?' Define the what and when, not the how.

Real examples

You have too many meetings and no time for strategy

Instead of: 'I go to all meetings just in case.' Better: 'I'll do delegation. Andrea, you go to the daily standup and summarize blockers for me. This way I focus on planning.'

An important project you used to do yourself

Instead of: 'This is too important, I'll do it.' Better: 'I'll do delegation of this project to Carlos. It's an opportunity for him to grow and for me to scale.'

Someone does the task differently than you would

Instead of: 'No, not like that. Let me do it.' Better: 'Delegation means trusting their method. If the result is good, the process can be different from mine.'
