Vision

The clear direction where the team is heading

It's the clear picture of the future you want to create. It's not a nice slogan, it's answering: Where are we going? Why does it matter? How will we know we got there?

How to communicate your vision in the first team meeting?

Say: 'Our vision is [specific result] in [time]. When we achieve it, [impact on customers/users]. Every task we do brings us closer to this.' Be specific, not abstract.

Real examples

Your team is unmotivated doing repetitive tasks

Instead of: 'It's what needs to be done.' Better: 'Our vision is to automate this in 6 months. These manual tasks teach us what to automate first.'

Someone asks why the roadmap changed

Instead of: 'Because management decided.' Better: 'Our vision is [X]. This change gets us there faster because [reason]. We're staying on course.'

You need to convince stakeholders of your proposal

Instead of: 'We want to do this.' Better: 'Our vision is to reduce churn by 30%. This proposal gets us there because [data]. See how it connects?'
